Chanel's iconic tweed jacket, originally introduced in the 1920s, was inspired by menswear that Coco Chanel's then-boyfriend, the Duke of Westminster, would wear. The jacket became an iconic fashion symbol and still carries the spirit of the liberated woman today.
Inspired by tweed jackets on the runway and streets, we made a simple tweed jacket pattern this fall. There are many variations you can try such as short/long lengths, more pockets, real or fake, buttons around the sleeves, unfinished hems, or braided trims attached to the edges.
Working with tweed fabric is intimidating, but our Katherine Classic Tweed Jacket is actually a simple pattern to try before making tailored jackets.
